Save the Date! Quilt & Fiber Arts Festival, October 12 - 14, 2018

The Board, staff and members of the Pacific Northwest Quilt & Fiber Arts Museum are deeply grateful for the support received from the Town of La Conner over the years. We are proud of our local roots and the stewardship we have of a local historic landmark, the Gaches Mansion. This
year we celebrate our 20th Anniversary as a landmark, not only for La Conner, but for the Pacific Northwest fiber arts community.

For the past ten years we have sponsored, in early October, the Quilt & Fiber Arts Festival, a combination of international quilt show, workshops, lectures, and other special events. Despite the best efforts of the Board, staff, and volunteers, attendance has decreased in recent years. In spite of heavy investment in advertising, we have seen a corresponding drop in revenue. In researching the cause, we looked at many factors exhibit presentation, quality and number of entries, instructor popularity, accessibility, parking, etc.

Its clear to the Museum Board that to expand this event and improve the experience, we must move the Festival to a more flexible venue. Maple Hall and the Civic Garden Club have been the primary exhibition spaces, but because of space limitations, weve had to conduct workshops at other venues, breaking up Festival continuity. To make the needed changes, we plan to re-locate to the Event Center in Everett in 2018. Its a larger, more accessible facility with greater amenities. All our activities and exhibits will be in one facility, and well be closer to larger population centers which will boost attendance and revenue.
